Original Medicare A & B

Part A and Part B are often referred to as “Original Medicare.” Original Medicare is one of your health coverage choices as part of the Medicare program managed by the federal government. Unless you choose a Medicare health plan, you will be enrolled in Original Medicare. You can go to any doctor, supplier, hospital, or other facility that is enrolled in Medicare and accepting new Medicare patients.

Prescription Drug Plan 

Part D

Medicare Supplement Plans cover gaps in Original Medicare Part A and B. 


Medicare Supplement Plans help pay some of the health care costs that the Original Medicare Plan doesn't cover. Medicare Supplement Plans are not the same as Medicare Advantage Plans and can only be combined with Original Medicare. 


If you choose a Supplement plan you should also enroll in a stand-alone Prescription Drug Plan.


Prescription Drug plans cover prescription needs.

Medicare Advantage

Part C

Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans work in place of your Part A and Part B Medicare coverage. They are offered by private insurance companies.  Medicare Advantage plans may include prescription drug plans.  Those are referred to as MAPD plans.
